Astra wing indicators

The wing indicators on my 1990 Astra diesel estate do not work, the bulbs and socket are OK but the (black and brown) wiring disappears behind the plastic guards behind the wing which makes them difficult to trace. According to the Haynes manual they are connected in parallel with the main front indicators, via a plug and socket arrangement (X2) referred to as 'Auxiliary Connectors', unfortunately however it doesn't appear to give any indication of the whereabouts in the car of this particular connector, can anyone familiar with Astra wiring help please?.. TIA.

The wiring for the side repeaters used to run to the connector in the passenger side footwell (behind the kick panel) and connect to the main loom there.

Many thanks, I'll check it out in the next day or so and let you know how I get on.

In all truth they haven't worked since I bought a car over 12 months ago, hadn't even noticed until it was pointed out to me, and I notice that some older cars don't even have them fitted, so I wonder if it's a legal requirement for them to be functional if I was stopped by the police?

Thus spake ivan unto the assembled multitudes:

Strange that the MOT didn't pick them up, then. If they're fitted they have to be working. You have had an MOT on it in the last 12 months haven't you?

ivan (ivan'H' snipped-for-privacy@yahoo.co.uk) gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying :

Side repeaters have to be fitted - and working - on anything post 1/8/86 (C-reg) - and they're part of the MOT.
