Audi A6 Outer CV boot

This needs replacing (140bhp 2.5TDI Estate, FWD, for those that don't know), and I was wondering if it's possible to replace this without taking the whole driveshaft out - i.e. just undoing the hub bolt, undoing the nut and popping the track rod end out of the front strut/hub assembly, and swivelling it around so the CV join slides out of the hub.

If this is possible, is it going to be significantly more difficult to pop the CV joint back on, or just as easy/difficult as with the whole driveshaft removed???

Cheers,

Peter
