Hi all,
1996 Audi A4 1.9TDi, 115k, factory fit alarm (afaik). I had been having problems starting the car, especially on cold mornings, and had been advised that the battery was not working properly, so I changed it on sunday there and dropped in a new one (or rather, halfords did). Car now starts happily but, as of Monday night, the alarm has gone a bit mental. It first went off for no reason on monday night (24+ hrs after new battery), but just the once. Then at 6am today (tuesday) it decided to keep going off, so I was forced to open it and leave it unlocked. I went to work and tried it again, but the alarm went off five minutes later so I left it unlocked all day. When I got it home, I checked the handbook and pulled fuse 14 for 'interior lights, reading lights, anti-theft alarm, vanity mirror'. The listed interior lights now don't come on, but the bloody alarm does! I left it a couple of hours and off it went again, except now the hazards don't flash with the horn.I've left it unlocked again for now, but wtf? Have had the car six months and no electrical funnies other than two speakers not working and the dodgy battery. It sounds to me like some dodgy wiring going on by somebody, but what do you wise gents think/advise?
TIA
Chandy
