Thers definatly fuel in it and a spark but wont start up.

See, this is what I hate about recent cars (N reg counts as recent to me) - if it won't start today but it did yesterday, where TF do you start looking? Fuel injection? Sensors? Fuses? Some bloody solenoid hidden behind a wing? Alcohol sensor?

I've got one of these buggers myself (well it was cheap and you do get a lot of car for the money). If it was running perfectly ok the last time you used it I'd suspect a fuel problem. If you listen towards the back of the car as you switch on the ignition you should hear the fuel pump activate for a couple of seconds. Only other thing I can think off is a malfunction of the immobiliser system. I have a spare key for my Nexia but if I try to start the car with that key the engine will just turn over & over without firing.

and put my hand over the carb area it tried to start but didn't?any more ideas?

Is the camshaft still turning?, belts tend to break on cold starts.

Could it possibly be a relay, such as a fuel pump relay?

I don't know if this could be related to your problem but I now remember that I did have a problem trying to start my Nexia that previously ran perfectly. I did manage to get it started by pumping the accelerator pedal whilst it was cranking and flooring the pedal just as soon as it started. It ran like a complete bag of s**te and I had to keep the revs above 3000 rpm otherwise the engine would cut out and fail to start again. Pulling off from standstill was a nightmare as I had to rev the bollox of it to stop it from stalling. I managed to limp the car to my local Daewoo breakers and he fixed the problem by fitting a second hand distributor unit. I'm not sure exactly what the problem with the distributor was but he did say that there is a lot of electronics built into the distributor system and fitting a second hand unit fixed the problem.

I had one briefly. Same thing happened to the wife whilst I was away. No fuel flowing to injectors. The fuse for the fuel pump is under the back seat apparently (Mr helpful RAC man only taking 4 hours to answer call out).

Have you actually checked the camshaft is turning? Most modern cars have sparks even without a cambelt.

the petrol flap which i assume wont operate the immobaliser side of things,found the right key---struck up straight away.

If your 2nd key is chipped- why not code it to the car? Bit silly to have it just open the petrol flap! LOL
