Fiesta 1994 1.3Ghia Tailgate Release/Lock

Hi, I'm having a look at a problem on my wife's Fiesta tailgate lock and release.

1st prob is all keys except master red key will not work when used to open the boot. The other keys operate all other locks fine, but not the tailgate. Only the Red master key works on the tailgate. Is this likely to be wear on the boot lock ? Is replacing the boot lock relatively straightforward ? I need to fix it before the MOT which is in a couple of months time.

2nd prob is tailgate release switch on centre console doesn't release the tailgate. My problem tracing this is the Haynes manual is totally wrong here. It shows the circuit consisting of a 12v feed through a Fuse 26, to the tailgate release switch in the centre console, to a contact on the four pole tailgate contact plate that makes contact when the boot is shut, and then connects to the tailgate release motor. This is not what I can find on the car. There is no fuse 26, or even a position for it in the fuse box. The colors of the wires connecting to the release switch are not R/W, but BR & BR/RD, the four pole tailgate contact plate doesn't have a release circuit, two are used for the windcreen wipter motor, one for the rear window heater, and the fourth is only a switch that open when the boot is closed, no connection is made through that contact to the tailgate. In the tailgate is a red connector which has five connections, which is not plugged in anywhere. This is not shown in the manual. Does anyone know what the correct wiring is to operate the tailgate release ? Regards Tony

Hi, After feeling around the inside of the tailgate, I've discovered that the 5 pin connector that was left unconnected has a matching connector ! When this was connected, the tailgate release sw works fine. I don;t know why all this wiring isn't in the Haynes manual ?

So I just have the original problem of why no key works in the tailgate lock except the red master key !
