Moderately so. Depends on how bent the door is and whether there's an air bag in the wheel. It may be cheaper to get a second hand door and have it resprayed. By the way there's a shift key on your keyboard. It helps with putting capital letters in the right place.

The door is fine for now it is bent back and door is shut. The steering column has snapped.I have been told it is fixable. There is no airbag. Where can i get a steering column from and how much do you think it will cost. Will scrapyards sell them and would they be open bank holiday monday? Thanks

I haven't the foggiest how much it will cost having never had to buy one. Obviously there are Vauxhall dealers but they'll charge an arm and a leg. An independent motor factor is your best bet for a new one but you may have to order one and I bet it won't be too cheap.

Yes and probably no. Some may be open but not many, though around here (Gloucester) the ones that are open will probably have already taken the steering column off for you (and charge accordingly).

Another second-hand M reg corsa would surley only cost a couple of hundred quid? A steering rack along with respraying and other gumph is likely to not be cost-effective.

If she's just passed her test, I doubt it'd be worth her while going through insurance. The excess alone will probably exceed the value of the car.

Yes, in the right circumstances it may not cost too much. However, the OP doesn't come across as someone who does this sort of thing, which means she is going to have to rely on paying people. I'd be astonished if she emerged from this less than £300 lighter.

I'd say closer to £200. Which means it's worth doing if the car is otherwise known to be reliable.

I dont need a new door the door is alright not alot of damage. all i need is a steering coloumn my boyfriend is a mechanic. His goin to look in the scrap yards today hopefully he finds one.

I thought of that too. But then you have to rely on the scrap yard having the right colour of door for the right car. Which they may do, of course.

If you needed to source a replacement door, get it sprayed to match, then pay to get the door and column fitted, it _would_ have worked out far more expensive and more hassle than just replacing the car.

Of course, you've yet to find out what other damage the scrotes did...
