HELP: Focus 1.8 Zetec starting problem

Guy here at work who works for me has a big problem with his Focus. He got here ok this morning and the engine is still warm now. Turns over fine but doesn't seem to fire at all. What's the quickets way to check for fuel delivery on these, check for voltage at the fuel pump or simply whip a pipe off at the fuel rail? Where is the fuel pump located on these (in tank or in front of tank?). Any help urgently needed. as he's moving house this aternoon and needs the car. Cheers, JB

First thing to do is to try the flooded engine start method. Hold the throttle pedal on the floor and crank for 30 seconds, then try a normal start.

If no luck, check the immobiliser led on the dash. Is it behaving normally? If not, the key may not be recognised. Can he try a spare?

Thirdly, check the fuel pump cut-off switch. Information is on a label on the sun visor.

If still no-go, the fuel pump is in the tank. You should be able to hear it each time the ignition is turned on if you leave the door open. If not, the fuse for it is no. 12 in the engine bay fuse box.
