Have you looked at the list prices of the facelifted Focus and new Fiesta?

They now cost more than the equivalent VW.

Bah, seeing as mine has gone the same way (previous thread) during a pre-Xmas freeze. Surely given a fully equipped workshop and a measure of ingenuity these things are fixable without resorting to buying new. Seeing as mine does actually still close eventually, albeit slowly, I'll live with it until I have time, and better weather, for having a look.

this one has seriously mislaid its cable, there are all sorts of crunchy noises inside and at one point it was trying to go up with the down button pressed, so the cable must have looped back. I eventually got it shut using a couple of screwdrivers and judicious pressing of the button, pulled the plug off the motor and gave it back to the customer, he says that there is no way he will pay out that much to fix it. I did suggest he look out for a complete door and I'll transfer the bits, but there are at least three different types of mechanism, so the chances of getting the right one are reduced a bit.

You'd expect that as they are better cars than the equivalent VW.

The single redeeming feature of that car is the Peugeot engine.

Bad form, but I did a comparison for someone the other day - the new Fiesta is more expensive than an Alfa MiTo, ffs.

Not really. Only one VW and that was a Mk1 Golf. Remember those days........ when VW made half decent cars ;)

The only Escort I owned was a mk1. It was a great car, right up to the moment I rolled it :(

In Feb 06 I had my O/S/F Window mechanism replaced at a local garage (using a genuine Ford part) for £272.90 incl. This looks comparable.

On an Alfa MiTo I saw, the part of the MiTo badge had already fallen off.

I suspect you don't know what the badge should look like.

Looking at pictures of the interior, it is almost deja vu again. Facia looks strikingly like the Punto/Corsa rent cars I have driven. Same platform again?

That's rich from Mr Cinquecento, Alfa 33, Alfa 33 again, VW Golf 1.5 auto, Alfa 155 narrowbody, Fiesta Mk2, Escort Mk4, VW Passat etc..... :-p

More clunkers in that list than in the entire Yugo back catalogue.
