It's definately pinking!

Hey, I'm back to my usual self again, I bet you all missed these postsdidn't you ;-)I drove my car this morning and my car was running terribly! Forabout the first 5 seconds the tappets rattled like mad, and then as Iwent down the road the gears were a bit 'crunchy'. On cold days thegears don't seem to want to go in for some reason, fortunately it wasonly difficult for the first few changes though. My fan belt was alsosquealing like mad, although I've got a new one on my desk waiting togo on now. On top of all this the engine was misfiring, making it'susual funny noise and pinking (as it usually does).There's also another thing I've noticed, it seems to pink badly whenit labours badly too. I know that a lot of cars such as my mums KApinked under these conditions from new, but it's the first time mycar's done it. Actually now that I think about it I don't think I'veever laboured it as much as I did today. On reason for labouring wasthat my feet were wet and kept slipping. It also pinked when thecooling fan came on, although it's never done it before when thecooling fan comes on :-o. Comparing my normal pinking to this pinkingthey are the same, but when labouring (almost stalling) it's a bitlouder/more aggressive.Could this labouring pinking be due to the fact that the car doesn'tget laboured much and the ECU's using a more advanced timing? Am Iright in thinking that when it knocks/pinks the timing is retarded,and when it doesn't knock/pink it's advanced or something? Havingsaid that I don't think my car has a knock sensor.In some ways it'd be nice to get rid of the car, but I really like it:-(. I've seen a nice year old Seat Arosa TDI at car giant (on theweb), but I don't think I could bare to see My Seicento go :-(. btwfor those of you who don't know it's a V reg Fiat Seicento SX 899ccwith almost 40,000 miles on it.
