Naah. It's marbles. Peter seems to have lost his, so there's a good chance they're rattling around in the car somewhere.

Now you know why most people find him a pain. You were the only one agreeing with him and he couldn't twig that.
Bwahahahaha
The message from Scott M contains these words:
Take more water with it.
So you're the expert. Riiiiight. It could be just a characteristic noise of that engine - maybe a slightly tappetty noise. There are loads of different noises an engine could make that aren't pinking.

I know.
I gave him a fair chance and he failed. Oh well.
Bugger!!!
I thought I had this plonker killfiled and I must have pressed the wrong buttons.
He has just returned to uni and has been let loose on a computer again, why do you think he disappeared for so long.
Now let me see if I can remember what to do, ah yes, don't feed the bloody trolls.
I think the problem is the thick tread on my trainers. The thing is I have great trouble trying to find foot wear that fits. My shoes are probably OK, but they're falling apart.
How do they make the 'pinking' noise go then?
I don't see anybody giving a better explanation!
No, I've replaced that with one from a scrapy :-( It's done less than
10,000 miles.I've also replaced the plugs (correct heat grade etc) and the leads as I've already mentioned.
A replacement coil from a scrappy? How do you know that's any better than yours? That's like using a bloody secondhand oil filter. Coils are only £20 or so brand new.

Yeh, I guess it's just the % torque you're asking for that is different.
Actually, I really did!
You're proof of life after brain death, never fail to make me feel better about my own abilities, and the threads are usually better than anything on TV.
Keep it up, you mechanically challenged halfwitted muppet from very much the shallow end of the gene pool! ;)
WTF!!! Doesn't this worry you that your feet slip off the pedals?
I think he meant throw them away while you were driving - like girls do. Funniest one I saw was in Japan, this tiny little Japanese girl who lost a few more inches by taking her heels off, then drove us about in an M3 bare foot hardly being able to see over the steering wheel lol ;-)
My daily driver is just about to be rested for a few weeks, it needs a break after 36 years of people abusing it.
I've not noticed the revs drop all that much on it with a full electrical load, but the ammeter shoots alarmingly into the "you're killing your battery" zone at tickover. One of my others does drop the revs quite a bit at tickover with full leccy load, but that's got an alternator, so it at least tries to keep up with the demand. I'm thinking about making the effort to dig out a spare alternator and bracket for the 1968 car.
But surely "great physical effort" means you're flooring it? And *even* in your car flooring it in first up a hill *must* get the revs above idle fairly quickly?
You may think you know, but you really don't. In fact, you know f*ck all by the sounds of things, and even when people try to teach you something, you still go away knowing f*ck all. It's actually quite funny, IMO.
As for the noise - I don't know (or want to know) the enignes, but could it be something like a noisey injector? Something loose rattling? Or a characteristic of a poor little engine never being allowed to breath proerply, coupled with an utter prat looking after it?
I could never drive in anything other than half decent running shoes. But over the years I do OK in pretty much any footwear, takes me a few pedal presses and I'm fine again. Maybe it's one of those things, some people can, some can't, or just I've been driving for a fair few years, and had lots of different cars I've jumped in and out of, making me better at feeling what's going on.
Oh dear lord. You appear not to have a clue how most of your car works, and then because you *don't* know what a noise could be, you think it's pinking, even when many people who *know* what pinking *is* have told you it isn't.
Have you actually ever driven or been in a car that *does* pink?
You really are an idiot, why do the government insist on getting people like you to go to uni?
Yep, probably would be in my car too, I very rarely accelerate from 30mph while in 3rd gear, let alone 4th gear.
