Mondeo immobiliser woes

Does anybody have any ideas as to the following problem?

My wife was driving the car onto the drive, when she put it into reverse, and the engine dies. Now when you try to start it, the red light comes on for about 5 secs, as normal, then goes into high speed flashing (about twice / sec), and the car won't turn over.

I guess it's an immobiliser problem, but at a loss as to what - all keys are the same, including the master.

Hoping to go on holiday on Thursday...

Werid one- first check the relevant reverse light fuse in the box incase its popped. If so, then your looking for a short somewhere, but how it would affect the immobilizer I don;t know!

Problem solved - the previous owner, for reasons known only to him, had chopped one of the large red feeds to the fusebox under the glove box, then rejoined it with a choc block. The screws were so loose as to not be there - now crimped up, and car back to life again.

I'm sure it made sense to him at the time...

lol. Glad you have sorted it. Personnally I would have soldered and heat shrunk this cable join though- it does pass a fair current, and crimps are heateful things if not done with the correct ratchet tool.

Agreed, but I did use pukka quality crimps, and the (bloody expensive) proper ratchet tool - I tried one of those cheapo plier sets once, and I'm not convinced they're good for anything other than pinching your fingers!
