A non internetted mate is trying to help a mate with no 4th or kick-down on this 1999 1.6 Clio RXE.
Is this one of those 'known' things where we clean the joggle washer and it's fine for another 10k? (fingers crossed) ;-)
I asked about fluid levels but he said it's sealed, no leaks and no smoke?

At a guess, check the temperature senders are all working. Some automatics won't change into top gear (etc.) until the engine / transmission is warm.
