I need to change the oil on an M reg Corsa pdq and I don't know how. Garage isn't an option as I'm flat broke and I'm sure if someone just explained how to do it I'd have no problems?Can anyone help....pleeeeeezzz?

If you haven't bought the oil and filter already, it is less hassle and (sometimes) cheaper to get a garage chain to do it. e.g National tyres for £15. 10% off if booked online - £14-40. or

the video too (Rt. lower corner). The 'weight' of an engine oilmentioned at the end of the clip refers to the figures "5W-30 (in coldclimates) 10W-30 (in hot climates)" as on the first line in the followinglink. (Your car may require a different 'weight'; look up this figure inthe Owner's Handbook)

is more useful as I presume you haven't got a car lift! Be carefulwhere you put the jacks at the right spots. Any other places under the carwould not be suitable. Look up the Owner's Handbook again. Use gloves (for dish washing-up ones will do) and put plenty of old newspaper under the car to catch any unintended oil spill -- used engine oil is carcinogenic (and may be quite hot!). Cover a large plastic washing up bowl with large plastic sheet (or bags) and drain your used oil into it*. After the engine has been refilled, pour that used oil back into the now empty plastic oil can and take it to your local council's refuse disposal site to be disposed of (there should be a large tank for this sort of oil), or give the filled oil can to your local friendly garage who will dispose of it for you for free. The other precautions worth noting are all in the links above.

Yes. Take it to your local National Tyres chain who will do an oil and filter change CHEAPER than you can buy the bits.
So they're charging you £14 for the oil-change, and £1 for disposal? The total, with 10% discount on £14, would be £13.60.

great links. I gave the first one a watch. The lady demonstrating an oil change says she poured some fresh oil into the oil filter. Bit confused I was never taught to do this. Is there any advantage to doing that ?

Check round the fast fit centres. They'll often do it for what you'd pay for the materials - they buy in bulk.

Yeah...because the pump isn't having to put 1/2 litre into the filter first, you get oil circulating round the engine quicker.

Oil and filter change is about £20 all in at those places!.. whereas a gallon or so of decent oil is about £15, and a filter is normally about £4, so you're getting it done for a quid.

Drained out from the bottom drain hole. Yes, they use the mobile funneled oil receptacle/drainer under the drain hole too, as in the video clip. One thing deserves mentioning: they don't seem to be bothered with renewing the drain plug washer, ever. I have no leak so far though.
