Seized linkage on the drivers side.

Does it free off if you drive in reverse? If so then it could be broken springs that hold the shoes off the drum.

that might just be a good idea but if it doesn't reverse back wot do i do because we have another car that goes in front and we wont be able to park it

cant you jack the rear up and turn it by hand backwards?? something tells me you had might as well do so as it looks as though you are going to have too take the wheel off anyway.

ok ill get hold of a jack and some axle stands and get it done, ill get back to you if i still have problems but ill try that, dont want to use the jack to change a tyre because last time i used that it fell of the jack luckily enought the wheel was still on the car.

Cheers for the advice!

If you can't work out for yourself how to move the car a few feet back and forth you should not be taking wheels off and working with brake components. Get a mobile mechanic to look at it.

Perhaps you should just get a garage to fix it, you might die trying to get the hubcap off.

i think you forgot that his rear wheel is locked up, maybe he is doing the right thing to find out what is causing the problem, and not taking the chance that driving back and forth may free the wheel up temperarily

Just make sure you position it under the rear wheel.

The message from "Wiggy" contains these words:

Whoosh usually means something's gone right over someone's head.

In this case it could either be a referrence you missed, or, more likely your habit of not including a snippet of whatever you're referring to in your answer - as I've done above as an example.

One of your posts asks "what is that meant to mean!" - but there's nothing to show what it is that you're unclear about - so we're now as confused as you were to start with.

Would have gone straight over your head if that Haynes manual hadn't been there.

I used a steel bar to lever the alloy wheel backwards as though it were reversing, and the the wheel just unlocked itself so i guess it must be the springs that hold the brake shoes away from the drum, but will it lock up agen i.e. when im driving to the garage to get it fixed

Cheers for the help guys youve been really helpful But i would like a reply to know if it would lock up agen when im driving
