Erm, you need a liquid take off from the tank - i.e. from the bottom using a dip tube or a bottom connection, and you also need a hand or electric pump to fill the car, as it dont work on its own.

Agreed they are more rattly when cold, but at idle these days again, they're about the same.
About the same as my GFs knackered Citroen BX...
