FS: Passat 1.8T

If you wanted to do it on the cheap you could look for a K04 from a TT/S3 that's being upgraded they are "only" good for 270bhp though.

I still think he should have gone with my idea of an AX 1.5D as, well, call it "penance", and also so he'd really appreciate what driver enjoyment was.

4% APR or 4% flat rate? I'd bet it's 4% flat rate, which is roughly 8% APR. Not terrible, mind you.

Not really the point..... 4 years is a long time to be tied to a car.

i'd pay it off way before though, 4 years keeps the payments down. then as and when i got the cash whack the rest off. at £150 a month i'd of saved more than that! i'd have it paid in 2 years anyway.

I bet you won't.

You'll think 'well, it's only £150 / month, that's nothing, I'll just keep paying it'

Believe me, I've been there.

The Maestro is available on a monthly, weekly, daily or hourly rate...

ROTFL.

'need'... you don't *need*, you *want*.

The 320i will sound basically the same, and they're not that slow either.

You've not convinced me, anyway... I don't think you've learnt your lesson at all, either, for the record.

Just bear in mind you'll be 'Bubbas bitch' for sure, the next time.

The early ones had 20V on the back & not 1.8T - on the non turbos its all in chrome, on the turbos the "V" is red. I am only sad enough to know this cos I have one too! Personally I think the little red "V" is about the coolest thing on the whole car (apart from the neon blue & red dashboard lights) - which about says it all for how "cool" a Passat is (not!).

Bloody good car for running up & down motorways in though (at 33-35mpg) & a £300 chip will give you just shy of 200bhp.

I.

Cool. How much for an hour with the old girl?

Isn't that Wayne Rooney's line?

I'll take it for an hour, if you deliver and collect.

Douglas

No problem Sir - the delivery charges equate to £1 per mile (both ways).

-- JackH

Sounds reasonable, I was thinking it might be something utterly rediculous like free delivery, but £1000 for an hour.

probably will i am a complete tosser after all

Heh! I was thinking, remember back in the "I wanna put neons on my Cavalier" days, you listened to the advice of this group and ended up with something decent, and was very glad that you did? Well, have you noticed a pattern - virtually everyone on here is telling you to either:

(a) buy a much nicer £6-7k car than the one you've been looking at if you really want something in that price range,

or

(b) just spend less money and get something a *bit* slower, and put the rest into savings to put towards a house deposit a couple of years down the line.

Do you reckon they might have a point. Take their advice, you'll be glad you did, just like the last time!

All I will say is... I've been caught a few times, and got the standard 3 pointers... they slowed me down for a while. I got stopped a while back, and was bang to proper rights - beyond ban territory, and escaped with a roadside, off the record *caution* (as did the other two who were involved), and that slowed me down for a while too... but as ever, now and again I get a new toy, and I get tempted to stretch the old legs again. :-S

It's one of the things I like about my TDI... it encourages me to drive a bit more sensibly in that respect, but... that doesn't mean I don't fancy getting something more lairy in the near future, now I have my manky old Maestro TD as a runabout.

It's also, bar financial considerations, one of the main reasons why I'm resisting getting another bike for a while.

that was years back and i think me listening to point a far more likely than point b. i can't and haven't found anything else i like as much yet so for now it'll still be the BMW 328 unless something else can catch my eye. been tempted by a few IS200's but they're not that nice a drive compared to the BMW

mate you never got banned though did you? standard 3 pointer worked for me for about 5 months then whoops! give it 2 months of walking and going no where it really bloody sinks in! plus i've since discovered new joys on the road, like always doing 30 in 30 limits when everyone else wants to hack through at 40. more fun if you let the speedo go to around 25mph too hehe, used to give me an evil chuckle in the MR2 before the court day came about. i was driving sensibly for months when i knew my court date came and i knew they defo hadn't forgotten, didn't want to be in more trouble :(
