Last chance to buy at a knock-down price!

Daren't post an ebay link, 'cos I don't want to lose my account.....

Anyway:

1998R, 147k miles, FWVSH to 129k miles, local garage has serviced and changed the cambelt at 142k miles. Decent tyres all round. Just had all the brake pads replaced. Brand new MOT carried out on Friday - expires 3/11/2006. Not the best colour - solid dark green. SE spec, so climate, gamma audio etc.

It's on Autotrader for £1895, ebay at £1695 BIN. Will do a bit of a deal if someone buys from me outside of ebay.....

Pics are on my website.

Location: Cardiff, South Wales.

Before anyone says 'HFM' - this is a knock down price for what it is.

Anyone who knows me knows I look after my cars, and JackH can testify that it's a good one.

How about £300 so I can use it at the track day? ;)

I'm sure it's something along the lines of

formatting link

(Seeing as I know SteveH is currently 'away from keyboard')

Yes, it's standard in every way, including the audio.

Nice enough car, but then given I have the TDI version, I would say that.

I'm sure MrH will be along presently...

quick question, why does it have the 20v badge and not the 1.8T if it is a

1.8T? my dad's had a 1.8T badge and no 20v badge and was on a V plate the same shape, although his was a sport!

You forgot the bit about it being a bit anonymous, not least in that colour - the old bill don't look twice at them.

-- JackH

Buy it.... spend a grand on a 200bhp chip and some suspension.

You'll then have something stupidly quick, that handles, but also something the police don't look twice at.

Seriously, that's the plan for me if it doesn't sell.

Good point, well made.

I've been hacking around at silly speeds in it - for example, an

*average* of 75mph from here to Manchester including piss and food breaks, and I've not had a ticket..... the Cinq. and the VFR have attracted 'unwanted attention', however.

As t'other MrH can testify, I don't hang around when driving.....

You appear to have mis-spelt 'I don't particularly pay much attention to which side of the road I'm veering all over' :-P

-- JackH

Pah! You have to use the full width of the road where you can, ffs!

Sod that, swap the turbo out and you are looking at ~300bhp without problems.

It's done a few too many miles to push it that far, IMHO.

Maybe needs a new set of rings but the rest is just bedded in nicely.

Problem with that is that I could flog the Passat on the cheap and buy a Fiat Coupe 20V turbo for less money. Or an Alfa 164 24v Cloverleaf.

Both of which are more attractive propositions than spending money on a sensible family saloon.

Can you show me where these Fiats for less money than your Passat are???

TIA

-- JackH

Sorry, misunderstanding......

Compared with getting a new turbo and new rings for the Passat to get

300bhp, I could buy a Coupe 20v Turbo cheaper.

HTH.

It does... especially as you'd probably then have to buy the same for the Fiat. ;-)

-- JackH (Still contemplating the merits of a Fiat 20v Coupe Turbo, over his Passat)

I have a hard time seeing the alloys when driving the car.

Alloys on a car: fine. Steel rims on a car: also fine.

Most ot the time the steel rims are stronger and lighter than their "lightweight" counterparts.
