The E-class doesn't look like a B5 platform VAG. So, no.

I have one in B&W, driven it about 20k miles now (on petrol!), no problems really, although it had a fresh engine and box in '99. Yes parking is a problem, if you have to park in busy car parks or streets then forget it. I parked it hard against the kerb in a Portsmouth street last week and the wheels were hanging 6" over the lines.
