well tonight after much grumbling and feelings of lingering doubt, I had a burst of enthusiasm along with much prodding by Jimmy throwing my new dizzy on, to get me out in the 205. wonderful smooth fully serviced gti with its shiney new dizzy doing its thing. took her out for a quick spin and lo and behold 3 miles later its at the side of the road bonnet up awaiting RAC

I BLOODY HATE 205's

going in the adtrader tommorow and i will be sticking with my lovely dull vag tdi thankyou.

looks suspicioulsy like terminal coil failure tonight ie weak spark. which is a tad irregular. gawd i hate s***ty old french cars :(

//rant over//

anyone suggest a way of making sure it is the coil before i go throw good money after bad on a replacement?

not too bad just priced one up on euro car parts, 20 quid or thereabouts so not too pricey anyhoo.

its a love hate thing

i love to hate it :)

I've not really been following this 205 saga much, but have you replaced the HT leads? If you have a shagged king lead, you're asking for bother.

yep everything from the coil forward is brand new and less than 15 miles old :) :)

now looking towards ignition module thingy

Aren't these Motronic systems? I thought the spark was controlled by the ECU from the crank sensor? I.e no ignition module.

only went motronic on the late model uns
