Can anyone tell me the name of that news server (German I think?) which used to be free but started charging a tenner for it about 2 years ago?

Sadly it's not worth using their stupid payment method which is the worst online payment system I've ever encountered. Run by BT isn't it? Which would explain why it's so s***ty.
I still feel aggrieved about the FU changeover. I was an early user and registered in Germany. I got an email when they changed to registration saying that as an early German language user of the system it would always remain free to access. Then out of hte blue htey changed username and password access then a few years later demanded money (which I was happy to pay) via a stupid payment system (which I refuse to use).
They never responded to my enquiries about the original email saying access would be free in perpetuity to German language users / early adopters.
They payment system did indeed suck. But they just did my renewal by sending me an email and letting me know they would do it. No problem. Probably the best value for money thing I get. Aus$16 for a whole year of abuse/information and making friends all over the world. Brilliant.

You mean I could pay to be abused?!
Which is the reason I gave up using them. I'd have been quite happy to pay
10 euros if they'd allowed payment by CC or PayPal. Instead I switched to news.readfreenews.net. Carries most of the n/g's I'm interested in, and is still free. Mike.
Can't sign up for them now though, they're saying there has been too much abuse of the service.
