I'm afraid I have to agree with him. Because I can, because this is usenet and because it winds you up.

And yes, I have experience of all most of windows, OS/2, *bsd variants, linux, Beos, X86 Solaris, X86 unixware, and pre-X86 Irix.

The cheap alternative is an Acorn RPC for news and mail use. No problems with viruses etc and an excellent prog for both these (called Pluto). To change to my PC I only have to press one button which swops monitor keyboard and mouse. They're both networked and can exchange standard file formats.

Not a solution if you prefer a laptop, though. ;-)

I said most. I haven't looked at Vista yet. only the Missus's hardware will run it. If/When I rebuild mine I'll check it out.

Well, I've not used it. Just seen a couple of screenshots. It won't be worth using for 12 months yet IMO...
