These kits came onto the market at a time when nearly new Z3s were selling at a premium over the new cost. Strange but true, and I'm sure a lot of people don't remember that.
There was also a glut of tired looking MX5s and Miatas washing about as well. Bingo - a gap in the market.
So, much as I dont want one myself, I do understand why somebody thought it was a good idea. At - That - Time.
