Even if they did, you'd have to swap servers depending on which connection you were using, and it still wouldn't get around using wifi hotspots.

Not quite..... back up Windows box, reformat, install some god-awful Linux, etc, etc.

Might be quicker if you're starting from a clean Linux box, but I'm not, and I wouldn't buy another machine just to run a news and mail server.

Agreed, seems like massive overkill just to read Usenet - which, let's face it, is only useful as mild entertainment when you're really bored, and that's only because of the amount of nutters and people with ridiculous ideas about everything heh,

Aye, when I was using my Vodafone then T-Mobile cards in hospital I used the German server because they didn't have any at the time iirc. Actually I don't think I even checked for T-Mobile, and even if they did, I'd still have used the German server because then it works when I'm at home, and when I'm away without changing the settings.
