What do i do ?

Well my little UKRCM chums i'm in a bit of a quandry.

The cavvy currently has a rather nice X20XEV ecotec lump fitted which is due to come out for a freshen up sooner rather than later.

my question is what should i do when she's out ?

Option 1 my thoughts are just freshen up with a quick head skim (up the compression) and have the bottom end balanced while its apart. She already has a set of uprated cams a set of ARP's and some headwork. after this its a case of a nice new exhaust (shexhy lexmaul manifold etc) and then look at the induction side of things (suggestions welcome)

Option 2 Turn to the dark side. fit a C20XE redtop and start afresh the only benefit is the ready availability of tuning goodies over the ecotec

fortune would have it that i have been offered a nice xe running SBD bodies for 1500 quid which is very tempting :) Option 3

Fit a C20LET turbo lump 204 bhp standard downside being having to fork out

6-700 quid for a lump then same again possibly on a rebuild before i start tuning.

Option 4

what u guys think???? any thoughts

If you must stick with a Cavalier...

Sell it and buy one with the XE lump in there as standard... they're not that rare, and not that dear to buy either.

No there isn't... they were registered K / L reg as SRi models, IIRC... just buy one that's not rotten - they do exist, believe it or not.

But Rob... *you've* owned and been fecking about with it.

Best get rid whilst you still can, eh.

Well, since this is a modding group, lets do the engine swap! IMHO you should go for the C20LET; if you can buy and rebuild it for less than £1500 then why go for the red top?

That said, the red top will an easier swap and can be tuned plenty; the race car has about 230bhp running on carbs, but you won't get much change out of

7 grand for one of those...

Um redtop and Let are the same block same mounts etc etc no extra difficulty in dropping it into the cav(considering engines self contained on both counts) only a few extra pipes :)
