240SX stiff/sticky throttle

Nov 20, 2004 1 Replies

I just bought a 98 240SX SE off Ebay. A little buyer's remorse here -- not as exciting as I expected, a tad noisy, and not much different than my 95

200SX SE-R. Eh...

Anyway, one problem that I can't forgive is a really sticky throttle. It takes a SHOVE to get the throttle to move from rest, which results in too much off-the-line acceleration. I noticed an unusually high amount of resistance is built into the first inch or so of travel. Is it supposed to be like this? How can I fix it?

Any 240SX enthusiasts in California's Orange County or bay area? Hoping to meet fellow owners...

Thanks.

The throttle body needs to be cleaned.
