2000 Maxima brakes?

Mine were re done under warrantee at about 22K miles,,,,

If your still under warrantee,,and maybe even if your not, there is a service bulletin about this problem.

Mine have been fine since the fix, I think in addition to turning the rotors they replaced the pads with a different type.

I first encountered the "Judder" at around 30K miles and the dealer fixed it as per the TSB (under warranty). I believe that they must have thrown new pads on as well because it wasn't until 70K that my pads wore out. During that time between 30K and 70K miles the judder became progressively worse. I replaced the front brakes myself at 70K using factory pads amd Brembo rotors. So far, so good 8K miles later.

You didn't mention if your replaced rotors were Nissan. I'll be that they were. At least, this would support my sucky Nissan rotor theory.

Yup they were Nissan Rotors. I should have upgraded in the first place!

The front rotors are terrible on 5th gen. I had Nissan refund the money that I spent having them turned when they juddered at 20 something thousand miles (2001 SE). At 40,000 I bit the bullet and replaced the rotors with Brembo smooth surface rotors and put on Raybestos Ceramic pads. They are great now. Warning....Don't buy semi-metallic pads unless you are deaf. Don't use Nissan shim on pads. Use the ones that come with the pads. You will need to clean and reuse those fore and aft gold colored clip things. Nissan should be ashamed of themselves for producing those junky brakes. Bob

I did the same thing...replaced my rotors with Brembo's. I got the Wagner Thermoquiet pads, front and rear, at O'Reillys. The installation was easy and they are excellent performers.

Had the old rotors turned and installed them on my wife's 2000 Maxima. New pads there, too, and, so far, both cars are quiet and straight. Mine now has 70000 and hers has 47000. Both had jumping brake peddles. We'll see how the turned originals perform compared to the Brembos.
