Radio noise

Dec 15, 2003 1 Replies

Aftermarket sound system 95 Max. Signal interference, especially AM radio, a big problem when key is ON and when motor is running. No interference in ACC key position. Noise seems not to be related to RPM, just a constant static hum, similar to 60 Hz hum. Occasional changes in hum when certain electrical items like headlights are turned on. Any ideas as to what is causing this interference? TIA Bob

Probably the alternator. Where are you getting power for the head unit? Sometimes changing where you get power (IMHO at the battery is best for noise issues) can help.
