what year 406? with or without keypad? infra red or HF radio?

Is the key you bought brand new? Have you checked whether the key is Primary or Secondary?

Hi Jeff,

He said IR. I only know old remotes (like on 405s) and I wonder if the 406's remote is hard-coded, too ?

All you have to do is:

turn the key to position 2 hold both buttons for 10 seconds let go of the buttons & press the big button take the key out & it 'SHOULD' work.

I've done it with my 2000 SRI & my mates 1999 Exec & worked both times.
