99 Grand Prix Warning Lights

I bought a 1999 Pontiac Gran Prix (used) & don't have an Owners Manual.

I have 2 Red Warning Lights on my Instrument Panel to the left of the Steering wheel.

  1. A red Explanation (!)
  2. A red P

Does anybody know what these mean? Also, does anyone know where I can get manual?

As far as I remember, the (!) means your emergency brake is on. Do what Paul said, and download the PDF of the manual.

This link takes me around in circles. There is nowhere I can download a manual. Maybe the problem is you have to register & if outside the US (I'm in Canada), you seem to wind up in cyberspace.

Ok, I found a manual on GM's site. I e-mailed you the PDF file. You will need Adobe or something similar to view it. If you don't get the file, let me know. As for the (!) and (P), it usually means your Emergency Brake is either stuck on, or not totally released. Those cars are known for having the emergency brake seizing up, but sometimes its just that the e-brake didn't release completely. Either that, or you have something wrong with your braking system. You should try to put on and release the emergency brake a few times, and if that doesn't turn the light out, get the brakes looked at.
