Entering security key codes

I have a '98 216SI and want to know how to enter the security code.

I was convinced I had read it somewhere recently but despite extensive searching, I've had no luck

I would appreciate it, if someone could reply with the details.

TIA E-mail address, hopefully self-explanatory Andy

are you reffering to the raio code ????

if so, when it says "CODE" press "1" and use the tuning arrow button ( > ) to insert the first digit, then press "1" again to move along to the second digit and repeat. once all 4 digits are in the display pressing "1" again will enter the code.

hi

the info you want should be in the manual for the car. if its the same as the 400 it goes something like turn key in door left 5 times then right 4 times then left 3 times then right 2 times (if the code is 5 4 3 2 ) good luck

Thanks for that. I'm trying to get hold of a handbook at the moment. If no joy, I'll try your suggestion. E-mail address, hopefully self-explanatory Andy

Simon is right.

I cant remember the exact procedure but if i remember rightyl its

close all doors etc.

Lock the car and hold the key in the LOCK position for about 5 seconds.

Take simons example of the number 5 4 3 2

turn the key to the unlock position and let it return to the centre 5 times (the locking system will still work, dont be put off by this)

The turn the key to the lock position and back to the centre "4" times (or whatever the second digit is)

then to the unlock position and back to the centre "3" times.

To the lock and back to centre "2" times

Then unlock the car WITH THE KEY.

Its important to do this as this takes the car out of the program mode so to speak.

Everything SHOULD work from then on.

Let me know how you go on with it.
