John - On my 1996 Saab 900s when it says Time for Service, it really means something is low. Like oil, or as I found last week, low on Power steering fluid.

Once I put fluid in, the light went out. Hope that helps.

with key on, press & HOLD the 'clear info' ? button. After 4 sec the mpg,etc is cleared. After abt 8-sec(20 sec?) the service flag resets.... It's just a mile counter.. not very smart

The "mpg, etc" clearing is not done if the clear button is held in longer to clear the service message.

The service message is based on both distance and time since last service. Both of these can be adjusted by using a TECH2 diagnostics computer.
