Cheap Avanti, first look

N8, you always look at a car based on what you'd want as a "keeper". You need to learn that some cars or parts may just be fuel for that special keeper. i.e. you could have bought the Commmander from me, fixed it up, flipped it and used the profit to add a blower to your 55. If you see new Ipods at a pawn shop for $10 a pop, you need to buy them, not think "I don't like Ipods." Hell, I bought and sold a Falcon wagon a few years back, not my cup of tea either.

Just as I hit the send button, I saw something on CNN that is a perfect example of what I'm talking about. Guy starts out with a big red paper clip that he wants to barter with on the Internet. Here:

easy for you to say, honestly I haven't had the $$$ to think about such things until very recently. Also if I were to do that you might as well rent me a cot in your garage, since I still don't have a good work space of my own :(

The problem with that '50 is I probably would have kept it anyway, bad paint, auto box and all...

All Nate needs to do now is find a giant green staple, trek across country bartering junk and a year from now will have a free year's rent in a boarding house in El Segundo.

Ipods for $10??? From my few experiences looking at things in pawn shops is that if I can go buy it brand new from a store for $100, the pawn shop wants $98.50 for the same thing that's been beat to hell. I have yet to find a bargain at a pawn shop.

Speaking of Ipods, I saw yesterday where they're going to start selling them through vending machines... $300 in quarters is going to take a while to insert... especially when you get to $299.75 and the last one won't take so you have to hit the coin return lever and pretend you hit the jackpot at Vegas. I wonder what they're using to bolt those vending machines to the floor with?

New Ipods for $10? Ever pawn shop I've ever stepped foot in wants 90% of new prices for their stuff.

Speaking of Ipods, I hear they're putting them in vending machines now... wonder how many hours until we start hearing about Ipod vending machines getting stolen.

You know the answer to that, John.

The engine is out, detail it. Detail the engine bay. Now is the time!

I'm doing a "modified detail" It's getting a quick rattle can paint job on the steam cleaned engine and frame under the hood. I'm doing that just so the new owner will have some paint on the hidden bits. I'll paint the brake booster, PS pump and the like, but I'm not going nuts.

BTW, I could add a excepti>>On this Avanti, I don't know where to quit. Do I just bolt the engine
