flat tyre this morning :(

Due to a flat, I had to change the rear passenger tyre on my 02 forester GT with the spare which has never been used. I would estimate the other tyres are about 80% unused.

Do i need to start worrying about buggering up the AWD now?

Nah. I wouldn't worry about it.

I started a long chain of posts on this subject back in springtime. I had a flat at 13k miles, mounted the spare and the new tire on one side and the older ones on the other side plus spare. Now at 22k miles the car hasn't yet objected, to the best of my knowledge.

Reports of the official Subaru position on this were quite draconian--tires must be within 1/4" circumference, which works out to about 4/100" tire wear. General belief here on the newsgroup seemed to be that this is a CYA response, probably written by their lawyers, to minimize their warranty responsibility in the event of problems.
