I am having the same problem and assume changing the bulb will solve i

- but like the last person cannot find the bulb sockets - in the waybac

- cargo area where? inside where? there is a lot of car back there :

any guidance would be greatly appreciated - I hate to pay a mechani for such an easy fix. Thanks!

Open the tailgate. Notice the two storage compartments just inside the tailgate, on the left and on the right. Open them. Reach rearward.
