What is your Prius millage?

Go to places like priuschat.com and you'll find a whole subculture of people who are obssessed with playing the dashboard monitor like a video game.

It's crazy. Me, I want to get out in traffic, drive responsibly (that is, being polite to everyone else in traffic), and get to where I'm going.

I'm not playing Tron. I'm driving a car.

And in the beginning it can be. Once the novelty is worn off it is no different than glancing at the speedometer, which all of us do regularly. Tomes

True that. And if one does get the footwork right one gets even better mileage. Tomes

That would be illegal, at least here in NJ. Keep right - pass left rule. Tomes

We have been through this already. The batteries are recycled into new batteries after they last the lifetime of the car. Tomes

It's also illegal here in California. But that didn't stop the Prius from travelling in the fast lane, at 45mph in a 55 zone, about two hours ago near my home.

I observed another Prius incident earlier today. I'm waiting for a left-turn arrow, and observed one in opposing traffic waiting to turn right. He has a small SUV behind him also waiting to turn. There's NO TRAFFIC preventing their right turn, but that idiot just stared down the street, probably waiting for something to appear out of thin air and causing an imaginary accident, all the while the SUV is laying on his horn trying to wake this guy up.

Two in one day is unusual for me to personally observe. I can't help but think of how many more are happening at a given time.

Please read the information that you conveniently snipped from the last post. I will refresh your eyes here: Prius starts at $21K Camry starts at 19K Tomes

Wasn't the comparison between the Prius and Corolla?

Hmmm...have you driven a Prius? That friggin' screen is like an Eye Magnet!!! For the first few days or weeks of driving the car you just can't keep your eyes off the damn thing! (esp if you're a techie like me.) The novelty wears off, though and normal driving skills return...slowly...

Worse than a cell phone of a carputer!

This happens everywhere. We've had right turn on red here in Mass for about 20 years now, and still some people (who were kids when the law was passed) sit there and wait for the green.

Lack of Confidence? Skill? Brains?

Because we are both racing to the gas pump and we are letting you win . . . again and again and again.

Personally I have no problem with that. Just use the slow lane and don't force your driving habits on others.

Actually, driving will talking on a cell phone (with or without a handset0 increases the risk of a crash. It also slows down traffic, because people are not paying attention to the road and cars around them.
