Back Window Issue

Jun 04, 2004 2 Replies

my 96' 4runner electric hatch window just stopped working. before i dig into the fuse box/switch/wiring, where should i start looking? any hidden relays i should know about??

some info: i noticed that the switch was acting "old", meaning i had to press it just right so the window would come down (click it down a couple of times using normal pressure, switch was never forced). one day with glass up the switch (or whatever the cause is) simply stopped working, cannot lower the window.

any info? thanks, K

I would pull the switch apart and try cleaning it and the contacts to see if that helps, since it was acting up before. If the switch is the same design as the earlier ones, they are a bit touchy. Then if that doesn;t fix the problem, I have some info (mainly 1st and 2nd gen 4Runners, but may be applicable to 3rd gens) on my page:

great, thanks (as always) for the tips.
