i am trying to remove the chrome handle of my bus 1969 that i am restoring. what is the secret to remove it? i have removed other handles of bay buses but this appear to be welded!

Ummm. All the handles are chrome. Do you mean the sliding door lock handle? Although the early and late locks differ, the handle comes off the same way. Remove the philips screw that holds the inside handle and take that handle off. Now the outer handle should pull out. If it's stuck, you can use a soft drift pin from the inside.
