back side of engine tin: unique?

Hi All

Today I was busy making the engine of my '72 SB look a bit less lousy and after removing, cleaning and straightening the back side of the engine tin, I mean #30 in

I realized it wouldn't fit back to its place. Apparently the openings for some tubes doesn't match exactly with those in my engine so the tin was unsuccesfully modified to fit in a 1600cc engine (I repeat: unsuccesfully). So my big question is: Is it possible that the PO put there the tin of a 1300 engine that has the openings in different places than the one for a 1600? What I mean when I say openings are not the "big holes" for the air pipes, these are smaller. Guys, sorry for my "technical" english.

thanks Ant
