Baxter the 1960 VW Bug

Hello everyone,

I'm the proud owner of a 1960 VW Bug named Baxter who I dearly love. We've been together for about 7 years now - he came with me to Northern California from Mississippi about 4 years ago. Since moving to California, Baxter has been hibernating in the garage - he comes out about once a month for a trip or two around the block and a nice bath.

Back when I bought him, he was a real mess in need of a lot of help. However, I have given him a second chance at life. He just needs a few more things to be complete. I'm going to be leaving California for Texas at the beginning of the year and need to find Baxter a LOVING home with someone who will finish him and give him a life outside of a garage. He deserves more than I can give him. He's very special to me. We have a lot a memories, Baxter and I.

Some of the folks here helped me get Baxter back into shape and I know a lot of you guys are in Northern California. I decided that in order to find Baxter a good home I have to find people who love Bugs like I do - I figured this was the BEST place to start.

So, he's for sale. He's 3000.00 and comes with a TON of extra parts like radio's, his original glass tail lights, his very own tow bar, a birth certificate and much more. Like I said before, he still needs a few things done to him before he is complete. He is currently in need of a paint job - I completly sanded and primed him [with good primer, not the canned stuff] inside and out before coming to Cali. He might need a new started, his hood - even though it was new when I got it, doesn't seem to fit correctly, he needs new shocks [which I bought, but haven't put on], and most importantly he needs his brakes figured out. We have worked on them for weeks on end and not been able to find a problem with them, but they won't hold pressure.

I have documentation of everything that I have done for him and I have TONS of pictures from the day I got him to now. Feel free to email me with any questions or requests for pictures.

Baxter and I live in Yuba City, CA If you'd rather talk to me on the phone email me and I will give you my number.

Thanks so much for your time.

It has been a while. Seems like around 1999 or 2000 that Stefany was a regular poster here. Jan do you remember the fall of 1999 when VW Goddess I & II were both posting? Seems like Jenn was still posting a lot then too.

Hey you guys! It's been quite some time, yes. I left Miss. for Cali in 1999 so it was around 96-99 that I was posting. I did all of my work to the car before I left for Cali. As you can see, I don't ever post any more, but I haven't forgotten about you guys. You guys helped me so much with Baxter and I still tell people about this place so they can get the great help I got when they're working on their cars.

How's everyone doing? Good, I hope. All is well here. Thinking of catching the Bug-O-Rama this year in Sacremento.
