Well poop! I just got my 66 bug running after 2 years of spending my retirement on it, but the clutch will not disengage. I have adjusted the wing nut tight. I still have room to adjust it but it turns hard. Could this be the through out baring? I managed to drive around the block, but it shifted hard....Help Bert

If you still have room, keep adjusting. Possible that the cable is failing and is stretching also.
Did you do any work to the clutch? Have the engine out?

...that made me suspicios as well....could he have used the wrong throw out bearing?? ....also it sat for two years....could the clutch have rusted to the pressure plate/flywheel....
