cut and turned front beam and disc brakes

Yes! Finaly i have done the cut and turned lift on the spare beam i had, revised the whole thing with new rubbers etc. I also bought disc brake spindles and took all the parts off the donor 1303 (which has front discbrakes that fit). I had to drill out the bleedervalves and retread the callipers which was a somewhat time consuming job. But hey, i now have a real cheap discbrake conversion. Took a few miles before the discpads got good grip but now the car drives much smoother in corners and it is ready for my 2000cc T4 :-)

You did what? Std torsion bar axle, and U cut and turned the center section for more ground clearance, I understood that part and plan to do exactly that on one of my bugs. But 1303 disc?!?!?! That's a McPherson strut, how does that fit? (haven't seen but I thought the McPherson disc brake components cannot be used on s torsion bar axle..

I went for the cheapest possible solution, being torsion axle spindles for discbrakes and all the 1303 parts fit on there. The disc, caliper, plate etc.... With the price of new calipers, discs and pads, it's better to just buy a worn 1303 and strip and revise those parts. Added advantage is you even get extra spareparts like windows, engine transaxle etc :-)
