Electric powered Beetle?

I was thinking about the alternate fuels post awhile back. I stumbled on a company here in Canada that's selling restored electric versions of the Renault Dauphine (the successor to the 2CV I think).

The Dauphine is also a rear-engined car like the acVW. If the French can do it why not the Germans?!? I chuckled while remembering the "flux capacitor" equipped 65 was it? that had been the subject of so much conjecture. Maybe somebody has tried this conversion before? :o)

My first car crash I experienced from the back seat of a Renault Dauphine, at the tender age of five or something close. The 2Cv was/ is a Citroen.

As a matter of fact........I've got one. I have an electric powered Bug that was made back in the late 70's and was actually driven till 1985 when it was parked till I bought it a couple years ago. It would get 50 miles per charge and hit a max speed of 50 mph. If anyone is interested it is for sale. It's a rust free North Carolina bug that still has all the vintage stuff on it. You can see pictures of it at:
