Woke up at 5AM today ,sons stopped by and at 10:30 we were at Rockingham.Lots of neat VW's,even more nice folks. My youngest son, Adam (age 22)has put together a 1635 cc Blow thru turbo green 64 Bug in his basement. He raced it for the first time today at the 'Rock".Dialed in at 9.35 in the 1/8 mile.Won his first 2 rounds,and redlighted the third round with a .495 reaction time,just .005 too soon,as .500 is perfect.This car is a daily driver,with no line lock or electronic gadgets.He drove it 3 hours today just to get to the track,and 3 hours home.A non- trailer queen car.It was Adam's first ever Drag race, the other competitors(VW types!)helped him as to race protocol,nice group of folks. This years meet was much larger than last years,show cars, racers and vendor numbers were higher. Kathy Jacobs sang the Natinal Anthem prior to the race,and did a wonderful rendition,very well done indeed. A fine job done by the organizers of the show/race!
