Little Help, Please?!

What the heck do you call the two plastic vents on the interior on either side of the rear window .... '71 Super?

AND, any idea where in the world I can find new ones?

Thanks, Larry '71 SB - "Herman"

Don't know what they are called but I have found lots of them at salvage yards.

They are still available as aftermarket items, but without the chrome trim.

You have Bug salvage yards? There ain't no such thang anywhere around here.

Funny, but I was going to have mine welded up shut, but when I took off the grilles it was clear that rain doesn't fall in there. It is a well engineered vent.

It's is not, it isn't ain't, and it's it's, not its, if you mean it is. If you don't, it's its. Then too, it's hers. It isn't her's. It isn't our's either. It's ours, and likewise yours and theirs. -- Oxford University Press, Edpress News

The neighbor owns an import salvage yard. At one time they had a ton of old VW stuff.

they are little roundish plastic holes that are between the quarter windows and rear window in 71+ beetles with the "flow through ventilation" these beetles have the "halfmoon" vents on the outside where the air enters and makes its way to the little plastic(white) "vents" inside... to the OP...not sure if they are available having never looked for "new" before....i do seem to recall several inquiries here on ramva over the last several years and i had come to the conclusion(in my head) that they are not available new...but i can not prove nor disprove this...hehe

If it's the above type, you can get them new. If it's the earlier type (single long vent that directs air onto the glass), then they're NLA.

Chris,

You explained them as well as I could have ... sounds like I may be looking for clean salvage parts. I'm fortunate to have a VW salvage yard about 2 miles from my home!
