Check out this link on the Samba classifieds. Bus was listed for sale at $47000, and it says that it is now sold. Not sure if it sold for that much, but who other than some yuppie a-hole has and extra $47,000 to drop on a hobby vehicle.
Not takin this bus
Maybe he meant $4700...it says that the $47k asking price is half what it cost to build. For $94k it could have been built from scratch! That guy's on crack!

I'd hardly call paying twice the going rate for a restored 21-23 window a good investment (professional restos typically have an asking price in the $25k range on thesamba). Even with 10% annual increases, it would take over
7 years just to breakeven (if the buyer paid the asking price). Add in insurance and the like and it likely moves it out even farther. - DB
the 23 window busses that are in the shape of this example have been routinely brought 40-50k for a couple years now...watch ebay you will see some go for big money....there are usually a couple that bring "top dollar" at the barrett jackson auction also....so really there's no "crack" involved, just desire and money...

Steve, if you mean true "disposable" income, then hell yeah i would buy that bus...and i would probably buy the 34k dollar bug that everyone is throwing a fit over, over at STF....but that is me...
