I can see a typical american redneck plowing right through that one in his crew cab dualie chevy pick-up.

That looks like pure evil. I bet the car body repair and paint shops love that thing.

.................That magic roundabout is awsome. How big is it? I mean, how fast could you go on the small circles?

I last went round it a year or so ago, before that, 10 years previous, so from shady memory, the small ones are only about 8 foot across, but nobody gets really close except busses & lorries which drive over them. When i was younger & more carefree (!!) me & mates used to drive over there just to go round it. You sort of go round the whole thing clockwise on the outside, and anticlockwise round the inside. Its really not as bad as it looks if you are used to individual roundabouts. The signs coming upto it do not help, mind. Just don't hesitate, or you've had it.

I'll have you know that I have a single cab, non-dualie, Ford pick-up truck. Get your stereotypes right! ;-P

Well thanks, I know now never to drive in Hemel Hempstead lol

I would not even want to venture close to one of those here in the USA. Most SUVs would just run right through them at full speed, while talking on the cell phone, sipping starbucks, curling hair and reading the morning paper.

I've read, that once people wrap their head around it, this style of roundabout is actually quite efficient:

25 years of use, and the intersection has had 14 "serious" accidents, 59 "lesser" ones, mostly involving bikers.

The interesting bit is that the system has scaled well over the years, and traffic remains fluid even during rush hour. I'd like to see a standard four way intersection make that claim. ;)
