Allstate paid out $2,500 to the owner in 1974 after it was stolen. Having paid the claim, Allstate owns the recovered car. Now it's worth between $25,000 and $35,000.

Lenny Copp of West Coast Classic Restorations in Fullerton, Calif. is quoted in the article.

Here's a follow up article written two days ago. Now someone thinks it will go for $40 to $60 grand.

You can bid for it at the Copart.com site between now and Friday December 18 at 12 noon. Van is located in Van Nuys, which is in "the Valley" part of Los Angeles. Current bid is $14,200. Maybe we could form a betting pool to guess what the winning bid will be. Any takers?

Here's another link to the auction. It's saying the van can be previewed in Rancho Cucamonga, 37 miles east of downtown Los Angeles.
