FS: 1984 VW Rabbit Wolfsburg Edition For Parts - QUICK!! Providence, RI

Hi All!

(I don't think my original post got through, so here's my second take at this...)

I hate to do this, but I need to sell my 1984 Rabbit, Wolfsburg Edition. It's been pretty much sitting around for almost a year since it failed the RI Emissions Inspection. It passed all the other safety-related parts, though. It still has a valid registration. Since it doesn't have a current inspection sticker, this car is being sold AS-IS, No Guarantees or Warrantees. Here's a summary. Please contact me if there are any specific things you want answered.

I am in the PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND area.

- 1984 2-door, hatchback Rabbit, Wolfsburg Edition.

- 266,000 miles or there about.

- One owner - ME. All records if interested.

- Frost Blue original paint in fair condition.

- Blue interior.

- The car runs well except for the emissions part.

- Newish brake pads. Rotors and drums currently have some surface rusting going on which will probably go away after some use.

- Working A/C.

- No accidents, no dents, tiny dings here and there.

- Typical rust around windshield and rear window.

- Windshield leaks above fuse box, but I have patched it successfully in the past. It needs another patching.

- Some rust in other areas, but nothing major.

- Currently has snow tires installed with used-to-be studded front snow tires.

- Pinned up headliner.

- Original upholstery with some tears in rear and tears in the front. Front has newish denim seat covers.

- Will probably need new battery, although will hold charge for a few days without use.

- Original, MINT spare tire.

- PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS FOR ANY OTHER POINTS I'M SURE TO HAVE MISSED.

Pictures will be forthcoming. E-mail me if you're interested and I'll direct you to them when they're available.

I will entertain offers, but I'm hoping for $250. I'd like to hear back this week, if you're interested. Otherwise, some charity will be getting a call.

I'd really like some other VW lover to get this for restoration, parts, or whatever instead of letting a charity scrap it for money!

I am also selling separately, 4 Toyo Spectrums mounted on steel wheels that fit this car. They have a lot of tread left on them. If you're interested in everything, I'll throw in whatever else I have around for this Rabbit:

- Bentley service manual. Fair shape, but all there.

- Rubber ski rack that clips onto roof gutters.

- Snow cables for front tires.

- Car cover.

If you want everything, you can have it all for $400.

Please contact me at the following address:

just remove the "BLAH" parts from the above...

Thanks! Dennis

Charity probably wouldn't scrap it... they would probably sell it, much like you are trying to do... most charity's don't fix foreign cars as they are too expensive or they know too little about them... I have purchased two cars from charity's my 71 beetle the lady I bought it from got it from a charity and redid the paint and interior... i just had to put in the engine and tranny... got a pretty sweet deal! the second one I got from a charity was an 87 cabriolet... needed a fuel pump relay and reverse is pretty much gone... but it's a pretty damn nice car for $350! AND I know where it was serviced and all the work done on it recently! PLUS the for sale $1800 was still in the car! I paid about $1500 less for it... put in a new relay and drove it away!
