Drivers side window just drops into door when I hit power window down. S*it! Is this a common problem with these? How much do you think this should cost to fix?

Yes, from what I understand it is.
There may be a recall that covers this. The clips are apparntly plastic and break. The replacements are metal. Check with your dealer.

FREE, take it to the dealer.
There was a class action suit, not a recall. VW never does anything like that until they're made to. They are now warranted for 7 years from date car was first put into service and if you have already paid them to do it you can get your money returned.
