They have Mustangs in England? Are they much different than the American models?

I wish!

Nope I'm afraid I have to get my jollies reading about them, and looking at pictures, or seeing them in a movie or something.

Of course it's possible that someone has imported them, but I've never actually seen one in real life.

Tragic, eh? :D

Probably wouldn't be practical with the cost of petrol (gas) over here. :(

Heh one day I shall go to the US, rent a mustang (do they do rentals for these?) and drive up and down Route 66. Nothing else. Up and down. In a Mustang. Mustang Sally blaring on the stereo. LOL.

Sorry, having a moment there. ;)

Bummer. What do you drive, then?

They're not /too/ bad on gas, my 86 GT gets about 25mi/gal

Not only can you rent Mustangs, I'm pretty sure you can rent the Mach I. Depends on where you go.

Sorry but this post did nothing to bring legitimacy to your propaganda.

Forget Route 66 - Rent a Cobra (not the Mustang, either) in Ft. Lauderdale and cruise up and down A1A. That'll be way more fun, guaranteed.

A plain ole Honda hatchback. Let us not speak of it.

We pay $1.29 a litre (or liter as you'd spell it). I remember seeing a news program a year or so ago showing Americans protesting at gas prices and the price on the sign was something ridiculously low like 3.95 a *gallon* (dunno what it is now). Caused quite a lot of comment over here. Motorists are totally shafted over here and they are always finding ways to screw more money out of us. :(

Cool. :)

What? What?

There *is* no propaganda son.

If you read the links I provided before, you'll see that plenty other sites do this, it's not at all uncommon. There is nothing to say one must read Usenet on a home computer. You can display newsgroups on any machine that can read from a newserver. You display on a home computer. He displays on his website. Makes no difference, Usenet is a worldwide broadcasting system and can be displayed anywhere that is capable of displaying it. You can display what you want from there, or choose not to display whatever you please.

Once you understand that, it will all fall into place. If you didn't read the Usenet FAQs url before I really urge you do so. This is a lot of fuss about nothing.

I've nothing to do with Christian and went to his site for the first time when Bill gave the url. There is nothing there to be remotely concerned about. He doesn't even have banners. No pay per clicks, no products. Don't believe me read his 'what is Horsepower' thread in the Open Forum. The only thing I can see he has on offer is a page for members to upload a pic of their car with details etc. What's wrong with that? Pretty generous I'd have thought, I don't allow my members to upload pics because it takes up precious hard drive space and sucks up bandwidth. This guy seems to have deep enough pockets to pay for his hobby without having to have banners and such to help pay for it. Good luck to him, he's got a very nice site. Just because he also appears to have a marketing company doesn't mean he isn't allowed to have a hobby site too.

Yes, I'll be going back, but not for all the mustangs, (I'm not a fanatic like you guys, so an occasional foray in here is enough to feed my interest), I am however a geek and I'm fascinated by the gizmo that shows who has posted on Usenet. I admit I had a 'stupid moment' when I first saw it and wondered how it could possibly know who had visited here as there is no "here". LOL I love saying that, it's so Zen. Then I got with the program and realised it was merely those who had posted. Duh! I have a similar one that says how many members have visited the board that day, which is pretty handy if you want to see if your friends have been online. He's obviously adapted that hack for Usenet which is pretty neat IMO.

Understand he cannot possibly take away members from here because of there being no 'here' to take from. He's merely pulling in a newsfeed and displaying on his website for the benefit of members. As the guy is not doing anything untoward then all that's left is the personal enmity between him and Bill, and that should be dealt with offline by those two as it really has nothing to do with the group.

But whatever, if you wish to believe otherwise it's your choice. There really isn't much more to say on this.

Hi Kirk

Always an excellent suggestion. And as England have just won the Rugby World Cup and given the Aussies a spanking, it's mandatory.

I'll have a pint for you. ;)
